ORAL SURGERY

In the dental clinic "Vukovic" all types of oral- surgery interventions are performed in the most modern way, completely painlessly, by using anesthetics which are the best on the market.

Extraction ( tooth extraction) is an intervention meaning removal of the tooth from the tooth-alveolus (tooth-cup), breaking all ties of tooth with surrounding tissues.

Surgical removal of impacted wisdom tooth

Third molars or wisdom teeth come up latest in the set of teeth at about the age of 20.Their coming up can cause certain problems in a part of population due to the lack of space in the existing set, they push other teeth causing change of their position, rotation and pushing out of the set of the teeth with the pain

The situation gets worse if wisdom teeth take such a position in the jawbone that there is no possibility for them to grow. This is a tooth horizontally placed in the bone or at an acute angle where emergence is almost completely impossible. In these positions the wisdom teeth "push" each other pushing out teeth in a row and making orthodontic problems. In that case (before any orthodontic treatment ) surgical removal of the tooth from the bone has to be performed.

This kind of intervention is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless. After a successful extraction, we sew the wound which accelerates healing. Micro -granules of artificial bone can be applied as well in order to speed wound healing. Analgesics along with cold compresses are advised since a pain appears a few hours after anesthesia. It is obligatory to take antibiotics 24 hours before intervention and in the following 5-7 days after it.

Apicoectomy (resection)

If there is a process on the top of the tooth which is not possible to conservatively cure ( for localization or size), a surgical removal of the tooth-root top is performed ( apicoectomy ). Assess is from the outside through the jawbones, the process and the root top are completely removed, the wound sterilized and sewn. The whole process is performed under local anesthesia and is painless. After termination of anesthesia, it is necessary to take analgesics. Taking antibiotics 24 hours before intervention and in the following 5-7 days after is a must.

Cystectomy

Cysts are pathological cavities in bone having the covering with epithelium on the inside. Cysts are slow -growing, spreading in the direction of less resistance. Given that these cavities are not physiological and their growth leads to bone loss, they must be surgically removed.

During intervention the cyst is completely removed (the covering and the content) and space around cleaned in detail, so that the possibility of recidivism is minimized. Complete treatment is performed in local anesthesia and is painless. Analgesics are necessary to take after intervention. It is obligatory to take antibiotics 24 hours before intervention and in the following 5-7 days after it

Cystestomy

It differs from cystectomy in the way that a cyst is not removed completely, but partially and is connected to a mouth cavity. It is performed with the patient where complete removal of the cyst would lead to fractures of the jawbone.

Frenectomy

The frenulum is an uvula that in the upper jaw connects the upper lip to the alveolar ridge (fork continuation of the upper jaw), and in the lower jaw it connects the tongue with the floor of the mouth. If stronger developed , what relates to more developed a bonding layer of uvula tissue, it can make the following problems:

  • Diastema is a space between the first two upper incisors caused by very expressed uvula
  • At prosthetics ,total prosthesis would not be able to stand with the expressed uvula, since by force it would pull the prothesis down. It is therefore necessary before making dentures and teeth-prints to do frenectomy.
  • If tongue uvula is developed at an early age, speech, chewing and swallowing are difficult. Therefore, frenectomy is advised as early as possible to normalize these vital functions.

frenectomy
Frenectomy is a routine intervention, not too demanding with fast and short recovery. It is performed in local anesthesia and analgesics are rarely necessary to take after the termination of anesthesia. It is obligatory to take antibiotics 24 hours before intervention and the following 5-7 days after it.
